Private Voice Lessons are offered online by Aimee Geddes at Breakthrough Studios.
Due to the online nature of voice lessons, age 12 and up is recommended, however, students between ages 8-11 will be considered depending on circumstances and their dedication to singing. Feel free to request a lesson or consultation if you are not sure where you/your child fits in.
Keep in mind that good vocal technique can be learned at any age! It is up to the student to determine their dedication level.
Where do I go for Lessons?
All private voice lessons are taught online via Zoom. We can also arrange to meet over face time or Skype as needed.
Once you schedule lessons, you’ll receive a reminder the week of your lesson with a link to the zoom meeting to login to.
What do I need to have for my online voice lessons?
- A computer with a great internet connection. Hopefully you can hook up a hardwired ethernet connection, but if not, just make sure your wi-fi is strong.
- A headset like the Sennheiser PC Chat 5
- A song you want to work on. Aimee can suggest songs for you if you like as well. However, please bring something of your choice to your first lesson.
- A phone or tablet to play your song on, separate from the one you are using for the zoom call.
So what do we do for 30 minutes each week in private voice lessons?
In short private voice lessons go like this:
1) Go over your vocal needs
2) Use vocal exercises to develop proper muscle coordination
3) Get the same feelings into your song and cheer you on like a champ!
4) Answer questions and wrap up.
First, be prepared to log in and tell Aimee what it is you need to work on.
Examples may include:
- Increasing flexibility and power in your voice
- Extending your vocal range
- Smoothing out the “cracks” in your voice
- Blending your upper and lower range
- Gaining more emotional connection to your singing
- Auditions for: Musical theater, Talent Contests, Choir, and just about anything you need to audition for to participate in.
- Artist Development
- Performance Coaching
Whatever your reason for learning to sing, be prepared to tell Aimee what it is you want to learn or work on so she can help you with your goals.
Be sure to bring a song to sing at your lesson!
Next, vocal exercises will be used to help you get the right feeling and build healthy muscle memory.
Then we practice that new coordination on your song so your song feels free and healthy.
If you have any questions during your lesson, feel free to ask. Curious students learn the most!
Lessons are taught over Zoom. Make sure to record your lessons and practice every day so you can experience the results!
